Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is determined to be an effective treatment for trauma (including acute stress and PTSD) reported by the American Psychiatric Association. It is a safe and effective technique that desensitizes feelings to a particular event or trigger. It is a strong member of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy family, which is the most widely used evidence-based practice for treating mental health.

“The goal of EMDR is to reduce the long-lasting effects of distressing memories by engaging the brain’s natural adaptive information processing mechanisms, thereby relieving present symptoms. The therapy uses an eight-phase approach that includes having the patient recall distressing images while receiving one of several types of bilateral sensory input, such as side to side eye movements.” –

NET Frequently Asked Questions
How long is therapy?

Depending on ones’ goals, therapy can last a few sessions to a few years. The initial session will begin with an evaluation (biopsychosocial) and the creation of a treatment plan. The treatment plan is then evaluated every 3 months.

When will I know when I'm done?

At each 3-month evaluation, Dr. Erb and her client will discuss the progress made and decide to continue, adjust or terminate the treatment plan. A client is never forced to stay and taking “breaks” in treatment can be therapeutic.

How much are the fees?

Fees vary based on chosen services. You may contact Dr. Erb for her fee schedule and to discuss possible payment options.

How can I pay my bill?

Full payment (unless other arrangements have been made) is due at time of session. Cash, checks, and most major credit cards are accepted.

Is Dr. Erb in network with any insurance company?

Dr. Erb is not in network with any insurance plan at this time.If you have coverage for “out of network providers’, Dr. Er will prepare insurance ready claim forms for you to submit to your plan. Insurance claims can be emailed or sent via regular mail to the client or insurance company.

Is there any paperwork I need to bring?
